STANDS A CALDER MAN----JANET DAILEY

It must have been extremely hard living back in the early 1900's. That is what this book is about. The hard times running a cattle ranch with draughts and insects invading all the ranches and farms in Montana.
But of course there is a beautiful love story as well. You can't just turn love off even when one of the lovers is married to another person.
This is a very moving book, well written. It makes you feel as tho you know these people and would love to have lived in this time period.

THE DARKEST EVENING OF THE YEAR -- DEAN KOONTZ

I will never look at another Golden Retriever in the same way again, after reading this book. The main character in this novel is Amy Redwing. Amy loves all dogs but especially golden retrievers. She rescues the ones that are being abused or neglected and and finds homes for them.
Dean Koontz, in his strange as usual way spins a good story here. There is a very special dog that Amy rescues by the name of Nickie. Amy and her boyfriend Brian McCarthy set out now to rescue Brian's daughter from a previous relationship from her abusive mother.
suspense---suspense---suspense
It really is difficult to put this book down/

ANY PLACE I HANG MY HAT---SUSAN ISAACS

Ms. Isaacs is a wonderful, smart, witty and sometimes serious writter. She has written ten (10) novels and they just keep getting better.
In this novel, "Any Place I Hang My Hat", Amy Lincoln is the main character and what a character she is. Amy is a journalist and lives alone. She has been alone for most of her thirty year. Having been abandoned at ten months old by her mother she was raised by her father's mother.
Amy has no memory of her mother and the only memory of her father is one of prisons.
Amy is afraid to love a man for fear of being rejected again. Yet she can't get over John, the man she has loved for two years.
Amy decides to try and find her mother. She has so many unanswered questions. Thinking if she could just get some of those questions answered then she could live a normal life.
This is a really wonderful book. From page one until the very end you can't tell how it's going to turn out.
